Sewn Together's 1st Challenge

My sister talked me into trying to make a card so, here's my first one. I am entering it in the Sewn Together challenge over at digital.sewmanycards.com . This is where I got the kitten in the stocking 'digi stamp'. I have to admit I don't make cards so, I didn't have much to work with. I used what I had, for example: the flower is a 'shoe dazzler' which goes in crocs. Who knew it would work so well on a card too! I don't know how good it is, but I had fun making it!!

Like Father Like Son

Every little boy loves to shave like his daddy. Jade had gotten some "shaving cream" and a "razor" for Christmas so he was having lots of fun 'shaving'!

The Lost Photo

Well, I'm showing off my 2nd place ribbon, but unfortunately can't show you the picture that won. I went ahead and put the ribbon and story about the picture in my scrapbook hoping to find the picture someday. If you enlarge the photo you should be able to read the story about what happen to the picture.

Beautiful Baby

Having adorable babies to work with really helps to make great photos. I love this picture of Alma Rosa.

Why Go South For the Winter?

This is my photo of the cardinal stuck in the ice storm. I just added some enhancement and on the bottom it says "Now I know Why the Others Go South". I'm sure this bird was wishing he were somewhere warmer!

Beautiful Butterfly

I love this photo of the butterfly which had landed on a tree in my front yard. This is another one of those pictures I really didn't like much until I added the enhancement. If you have some photos you really don't care much for, don't pitch them. You can work with them and make them into something beautiful.

Cool Kids

All the kids wanted to wear their sunglasses so I thought I would get their picture. This picture of the 'cool kids' won 2nd place.

Early Bird Gets the Worm

I had taken this picture of the bird with the worm in his mouth, but wasn't very impressed with it. Then, I enhanced it to enter into the enhanced category at the fair and I really liked how it turned out. Plus, it won 1st place.

My Son's Blue Ribbon

My son Jade, entered this collage at the fair and he was very proud to win 1st place.

Black & Whites

I love to play around with black and white photos. These are some of the first black and whites I ever did. They are of my daughter Samantha when she was 6 years old. I took these photos at an old cabin in a nearby park. I think she did an awesome job of modeling at the age of 6. I entered these photos at the county fair back in 2003 and won several ribbons that year also.

My Kids

I wanted to introduce my three beautiful children. On the left (being held by my niece, Lindsey) is my mischievous, almost 2 year old, Alma Rosa. Next to her is fun loving Jade, now 6. To the right is my beautiful and talented Samantha who is 12 years old. So, there you have it- My Pride and Joy!

Fun with Stamps

This is a photo I took of a barn down the road from me. To have a little fun I added these cow stamps and gave it an oil painting effect using my Printmaster Platinum Software. I thought it turned out pretty cute.

From My Backyard

This is another photo I took from my backyard. It's amazing how things look differently through the lens of a camera. I don't really travel, so most of the pictures I take are at home. Thus, the name 'Anita's Backyard Photography'. I have won overall in photography at our county fair two years in a row. (I'll tell more about that later when I get my pictures organized and posted) Most of the pictures I won with were taken at home and a few at the zoo or park. You don't have to go far to get great pictures. Although, I would love to travel and see what kind of beautiful pictures I could get.

Blog Name Photo

The photo of the barn in the canola field is one of my photos. I love the yellow field against the blue sky. I had never seen a canola field and when I saw this near where I live, I had to take a picture. I think this is a simple yet beautiful photo.

One of My Favorite Photos

I entered this photo in a local photo contest in our county newspaper. I was very pleased to have won 3rd place. There were hundreds of photos entered so I was honored. We had recently had a very bad ice storm, but I did get this great picture out of it. It is a red cardinal which seems to be stuck in the ice on this bush in my front yard.

Welcome

I am excited to be starting my first Blog. It may take me a little while to get it set up and get the hang of it, but I hope to be sharing some of my photos with you. I'm just a "backyard" photographer who actually doesn't know much about photography, except that I love to take pictures. I will be looking forward to your comments and hoping to learn something about photography along the way.
