I am entering my second challenge at Sew Many Cards. The challenge is to make a Halloween Card using the colors purple, yellow, red or pink and a neutral color not including black. I had lots of fun once again making this card. I think I see a new hobby coming on! :)

I needed to make a card that had some kind of sewing on it to enter into a challenge at StampTV. I decided to go ahead and make a birthday card for my daughter who will be turning 2 this month. I hand sewed this card because I do not have a machine, but the winner of the challenge will win a Janome Sew Mini Machine! So, wish me luck!! I've never sewn on a card before, especially since this is only my second card to ever make. I decided to use thread to make my sprinkles and it just went from there. I think it turned out fairly well:)
The following twelve posts are my winning photos at our local fair in 2008. I won overall in the Photography exhibits- Open Home Division. (You will see a couple other posts I sneaked in amongst these photos) I have posted the winning photo and the scrapbook page where I have them now.

Jade got a puppy he named Jack. Unfortunately Jack either ran away or got stolen when he was not very old. He loved to follow my husband around working on the farm and we are not sure what happened to him. He was a very good puppy and luckily I had gotten some beautiful pictures of him in the time that we had him. Jade still misses him and I am glad we have these photos of him.

My sister talked me into trying to make a card so, here's my first one. I am entering it in the Sewn Together challenge over at digital.sewmanycards.com . This is where I got the kitten in the stocking 'digi stamp'. I have to admit I don't make cards so, I didn't have much to work with. I used what I had, for example: the flower is a 'shoe dazzler' which goes in crocs. Who knew it would work so well on a card too! I don't know how good it is, but I had fun making it!!

Well, I'm showing off my 2nd place ribbon, but unfortunately can't show you the picture that won. I went ahead and put the ribbon and story about the picture in my scrapbook hoping to find the picture someday. If you enlarge the photo you should be able to read the story about what happen to the picture.
I love this photo of the butterfly which had landed on a tree in my front yard. This is another one of those pictures I really didn't like much until I added the enhancement. If you have some photos you really don't care much for, don't pitch them. You can work with them and make them into something beautiful.

I love to play around with black and white photos. These are some of the first black and whites I ever did. They are of my daughter Samantha when she was 6 years old. I took these photos at an old cabin in a nearby park. I think she did an awesome job of modeling at the age of 6. I entered these photos at the county fair back in 2003 and won several ribbons that year also.

I wanted to introduce my three beautiful children. On the left (being held by my niece, Lindsey) is my mischievous, almost 2 year old, Alma Rosa. Next to her is fun loving Jade, now 6. To the right is my beautiful and talented Samantha who is 12 years old. So, there you have it- My Pride and Joy!

This is another photo I took from my backyard. It's amazing how things look differently through the lens of a camera. I don't really travel, so most of the pictures I take are at home. Thus, the name 'Anita's Backyard Photography'. I have won overall in photography at our county fair two years in a row. (I'll tell more about that later when I get my pictures organized and posted) Most of the pictures I won with were taken at home and a few at the zoo or park. You don't have to go far to get great pictures. Although, I would love to travel and see what kind of beautiful pictures I could get.
The photo of the barn in the canola field is one of my photos. I love the yellow field against the blue sky. I had never seen a canola field and when I saw this near where I live, I had to take a picture. I think this is a simple yet beautiful photo.

I entered this photo in a local photo contest in our county newspaper. I was very pleased to have won 3rd place. There were hundreds of photos entered so I was honored. We had recently had a very bad ice storm, but I did get this great picture out of it. It is a red cardinal which seems to be stuck in the ice on this bush in my front yard.
I am excited to be starting my first Blog. It may take me a little while to get it set up and get the hang of it, but I hope to be sharing some of my photos with you. I'm just a "backyard" photographer who actually doesn't know much about photography, except that I love to take pictures. I will be looking forward to your comments and hoping to learn something about photography along the way.
